The importance of planning in networks

I often seen poorly planned networks in new installations. Whilst what you buy now may work, years of additions often lead to bottle necks and poor network efficiency. In joint venture with Rest-A-Sured security, we are installing a 10G (10 gigabit) fibre network with 10G aggregate switch in the field for remote switches to connect to, and 10G uplink back to the main office. Whilst we were at it, we created different VLAN’s for the security devices (CCTV and Alarm) to segregate the devices and add some additional security to the corporate network. This coupled with the 10G backhaul will mean the network can easily carry corporate and CCTV traffic, as well as WIFI, Voice and anything else that is thrown at it.

For this, we are using Ubiquiti edge max products. Most people will know ubiquiti unifi which is a competent WiFi solution, but for more complex scenarios and additional features the edge max range offers specific advantages such as later 3 switching. The switches will also be centrally managed by UNMS, providing single pane of glass management and firmware updates.

Traditionally these kinds of networks would have been super expensive with products such as Aruba and Cisco, but Ubiquiti’s tag line of democratising enterprise network plays true by bringing this level of capability to small to medium businesses.
